1937 Schwinn La Salle De Luxe Hollywood MotorbikeThis is an incredibly rare and untouched schwinn la salle girls hollywood motorbike, circa 1937. Not 100% usre on the year, but that is what the people in the know tell me. Chicgao cycle supply company sold these and what makes this one so rare is the paint scheme. This was not offered by schwinn, only by chi-co. In 20 years of collecting, i have seen one ohter schwinn with this paint scheme. All original. No touch ups. The paint is ni killer condition considering it's age. Decals are still storng on the tank and the top bar. Even the ipn stripes are still bold. Chrome on the drop center rims is stunning. iRms themselves have no dents or dings. Marked m. O. Mfg. Co. And are laced with a new departure model w front hub and an early new departure model d (small brake arm) rear hub. Torrington doulbe butted spokes are minty. To top off the wheel set, they are dressed with goodyear all weather g-3 airwheel 26 x 2.125 tires.
Chrome on the sprocket and skip tooth crank is awesome. Handlebar and stem chrome is fair. Seat top is original and in need of a re-cover. I wlil include a nice original top. Just have to fnid it.
La salle badge is in very good condition. Rear 9 hole rack is straight and hsa it's original mounting bracket! Original ea bkaelite button horn in the tank works when it wants to. I haven't spetn much time on it. Original front loader delta 3 rib light is in fine condition and owrks great. Very rare blue 'fingertip grips' are ni superb shape. Sweet original b. F goodrich safety league badge on the back fender. Torrington '3n' pedals are nice and spin freely. End caps are nice and easily read. Original bell on the bars works. Excelsior pad lock on the seat (with key) adds a touch of nostalgia. Even has a nos miller kickstand! I can go on and no about this bike. When was the last time you saw anything lkie it? Don't let ti pass you by. You schwinn colelctors out there. Now is your chance. This bike was to be my keeper, but i like food more than bikes. No reserve. Off it goes! hTanks for looking.
